Cherwell Gundog Club was formed in 2015 when our founding member, Joe, recognised the need for a gundog training club in North Oxfordshire.
Joe is the proud owner of Milly who he has owned since she was 8 weeks, now almost 2 years old Milly is picking up on shoots and making a fantastic peg dog. Joe's love for gundog training and desire for a local club prompted him to form Cherwell Gundog Club!
As a farmer with access to over 500 acres of farmland in North Oxfordshire offering a variety of different terrains including woodland, dense cover, open fields and water Joe felt that it would be possible to offer a fantastic environment to train a working gundog.
Cherwell Gundog Club are not Kennel Club affiliated, anyone, any breed and any ability are welcome. Our training days are fun, relaxed and enjoyable for all.
In 2016, the Club's 2nd year, Joe took on the help of two local gundog competitors, Will & Claire Organ. Will and Claire's experience and knowledge gained over many years in the gundog world will be a fantastic asset for the club. In September 2016 the club ran it's first working test which was a great success and raised £260 for charity.
For 2017, the Club's 3rd year, Joe, Will & Claire formed a committee alongside the most regular members of the club from the previous two seasons. The club now runs training courses for beginner and intermediate dogs as well as advanced training days throughout the summer. There is also a Charity Working Test to close the year.
